Remote Access Working
ACCESS E-MAILS REMOTELY.
The use of our IMAP e-mail service allows you to store your e-mails, both Sent and Received, on our Internet servers. They are available to you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
And don't worry about the security of your e-mails, we back up your data every day.
ACCESS COMPUTERS REMOTELY.
Our broadband services come with a static IP address as standard. Unlike the broadband services provided by the vast majority of other suppliers, our IP addresses never change. This means that you can connect to your computer from afar 24 hours a day.
At the office end, a special computer program is loaded and this sits in the background waiting for a remote connection to be made.
At the remote end, another special program is used to connect to your office computer.
When the connection is made, the user name and password is verified to ensure that only authorised users are allowed access. Once connected, all communication between the two computers is encrypted in order to prevent "eaves dropping".
Once successfully connected, you will see your office computer screen as if you were sitting in front of it. You then use your mouse and keyboard to control the office computer as normal.
ACCESS OUR HARD DISK REMOTELY.
It has been a long day. You are tired and would like to go home, have your dinner and enjoy some time with the family ...... but you have to finish an urgent estimate, proposal, letter etc in readiness for tomorrow.
You can stay behind in the office or you can simply copy the data to a password protected area on our Internet server reserved just for you. Once copied, go home and when you are ready access your data remotely and carry on working. As far as your computers are concerned, our Internet server is simply another hard disk that you can access.
If you are a large enough organisation to use multi user systems, accessed from different locations, then use our Internet server to contain your data and your own computer to hold back up copies.
IS IT SECURE?
Our Internet servers are protected by two firewalls and anti virus software. The primary source of viruses come from e-mails and we have our e-mail services located on an entirely separate Internet server to reduce the chance of virus infection.
The servers use the Linux operating system which includes a number of security features. Because Linux systems tend to be used by technically aware people, this tends to limit the number of viruses sent to servers in general. However, we are not complacent. All areas of our Internet servers are protected by a series of user name, passwords and access permissions.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating and sometimes it has to be a case of "do as I do". We run our own accounting system from one of our Internet servers and we have not had any problems of virus infection or hacking.
IS IT EXPENSIVE??
Hopefully the costs are not so high as to put people off using our services.
Many of the available services are provided as part of the core products. Some products do require Scotz.Net to purchase software licences on your behalf and these costs must be passed on. Other products require us to connect to your computer to set up connections etc and our labour costs must be recouped.
But, at the end of it all, you should have a system that will be great value for money and will save you time, stress and help you maintain a healthy work / life balance.
WHAT ARE THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS?
As long as you can access the Internet, preferably using Broadband (for support purposes), then you can use our Remote Access Working services.
